If you are a major Facebook user you are probably a little concerned about privacy issues regarding photos, etc. You may or may have not of heard of the recent controversy regarding Facebook owning publishing rights to your personal photos unless you change a setting. Of course it should be easy just to go in and click whatever you need to protect them but is it really safe and worth it?
According to the the SW Group Facebook does not own our private photos. Hmmm, well is it true or not? Well SW points out that in Facebook’s privacy terms, “we own all content and information we post on facebook.” But we are in control of what is allowed to be retrieved and used for third party sites. Ahhh makes sense now doesn’t it? Basically, we just can’t be lazy in avoiding reality. Do you want them to use your photos in other sites? If not let them know by changing your settings regarding photos, etc. It’s much like when a school or preschool sends home a written permission/release form asking if they can use photos taken throughout the year in advertisements etc.
Do you believe that our photos are really safe and if the people behind Facebook are really on the up and up? Are they really looking out for our well being? Well, after seeing the movie “Social Network” I am not too sure. I say, just be diligent about updating your settings ASAP and all should be well, hopefully!
